Silvia Venturini Fendi truly follows her heart this season and when she does that, she makes everyone happy. The runway leaves everyone smiling. Celebrating five generations and 100 years of the house of FENDI that was founded in Rome by Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande Fendi in 1925, Silvia reignites memories from past and present.
⁘FENDI reminds me of the future,⁘ she says. ⁘I didn⁘t want to spend too much time swelling on the physical archives. For me, FENDI 100 is more about my personal memories ⁘ real or imagined ⁘ of what FENDI was and what FENDI means today.⁘
A century and five generations later, Silvia takes back the wheels following the departure of Kim Jones , as the lead role who understands the House in and out. This very ethos doubles up the charm and triples its appeal with a collection that is strongly rooted in generational heritage but fortified with a modern sensibility. In this show, it shows the audience what truly makes Fendi FENDI .
Silvia doesn⁘t hold back on ⁘ it is still the House⁘s 100th anniversary. The origin story of FENDI is wrought anew by the stalwart herself, reflecting on a century of the House as an exercise of figuration. There⁘s a dance-first-think-later attitude in the collection as the models walk down the runway ⁘ a joyous sense of FENDI-ness where irony and humour mingle with sobriety, and sensuality is instilled with a Roman rigour. The clothes become characters, and characters become their clothes. The repertoire revisits sartorial traditions with a contemporary twist on Italian sophistication. It⁘s giving luxe, nouveau extravagance.
